Weller

$175.00

For sale is a lovely piece of art pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Flemish" and the form is a tall bud vase. The vase is tall as it measures 8 3/8" in height and is approximately 2 3/4" in diameter at the widest point at the very bottom. The rim measures approximately 2 3/8" in diameter outside measurements.

The vase depicts a cylindrical form with an assortment of glazes. The bottom background glaze is done in a blended matte green brown. The ribbon is done in a yellow and it fully wraps around the vase. The leaves are done in the same blended glaze as the background. The rose is done in a soft cranberry with some deeper tones to it. The back of the vase is plain except for the blended glaze and the back of the ribbon.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The vase is signed on the bottom with the incised block lettering "WELLER" as well as the letter "D" in Black. This was more than likely the artist or the finisher's mark. This vase will work well in any arts and crafts or mission style setting as well as any country decor.

This vase was made circa 1914-1928.
