For sale is a lovely teacup and saucer made by Paragon of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. The cup measures 2 1/4" tall at the handles highest measurement. The actual cup measures 2 1/8" tall and 3 3/4" wide at the rim of the cup. The footed base measures 1 13/16" wide. The saucer is approximately 7/8" tall and is 5 3/8" in diameter.

The pattern depicts stylized Jacobean shaped leaves along with small seed pod sprays in clusters. They are done in a gray slate blue and trimmed with 24k gold in a wreath fashion on the interior of the cup. There is a ring of gold underneath the pattern encircling the interior of the cup and also on the interior of the pattern on the saucer. There is gold trim on the scalloped rim of the cup, saucer and handle. This is a 4 repeat design on the interior of the tea cup and a 5 repeat on the saucer. The tea cup exterior has a simple ring of gold on white at the center of the cup and another band of gold just above the base of the foot. It is an elegant pattern that displays wonderfully.

Paragon has a history and reputation of producing high quality tea sets and fine china. They were granted many royal warrants of appointment by many members of the Royal Family. They were originally the Star China Company and have an illustrious intertwined history among many talented potters of the day and region. The Aynsley, Royal Albert, Royal Doulton companies and other well known potters merged and formed different branches of this ware through many generations.

The teacup and saucer are in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The pieces are signed "By Appointment To Her Majesty The Queen China Potters PARAGON Fine Bone China England Reg'd" along with the crest known as the Warrant. The saucer also has a handwritten identification number A4401 in red ink. The teacup was made circa 1960-1963.
