Fulper

$595.00

For sale is a wonderful piece of art pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The item is a tall arts and crafts shaped vase. The vase has some size to it as it stands just shy of 9" tall at 8 15/16" and is approximately 3" in diameter.

The vase depicts a wonderful example of Ivory Flambe or what I've seen some dealers call Elephants Breath. It is a blending from a deep brown to gray Flambe or drip glaze at the top rim. The glaze runs are just wonderful and are set against a speckled Ivory background glaze. The vase has a very arts and crafts appeal as it has 7 flat tall sides to it. The glaze runs make it to the bottom on 5 of the sides and the other sides are 2/3rds of the way down. I don't think I have ever owned one of these with such wonderful long glaze runs on every side. This is a wonderful form and would look wonderful in any arts and crafts or mission style setting.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, or major chips. There are a few grinding flakes on the underside bottom. This is considered factory as it was made this way. You can see the color of the clay is uniform even in these areas. The vase is properly signed on the bottom with the ink stamp rectangle Fulper mark and dates this vase to their earliest time frame. This vase is known as shape number 445 in the early Fulper catalog pages. This rectangular ink stamp mark helps dates this vase to have been made during the Vasekraft years, circa 1909-1916.
