For sale is a lovely piece of art glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is the highly collected and very desirable "Queen" pattern ruffled bowl. The bowl is done in Tiffany's highly sought after blue Favrile style of art glass. The bowl is a nice size as it stands just over 6 1/4 in diameter and stands 2 5/8 tall. The bottom has a diameter of 2 7/8".

The bowl displays a ruffled border that you can clearly see was hand formed and not mold made. The bowl has vertical ribbing that rises up from the bottom edge and works it way to the top edge at an angle or in a slight swirl motion. The ribbing almost disappears once it hits the top edge. The ribs are very pronounced on the inside of the bowl. There are a total of eight ribs. The Peacock Blue Favrile, Aurene iridescence is just outstanding!! You can see beautiful purples and fuchsia. The inside of the bowl is more brilliant than the outside.

The bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece shows virtually no wear on the inside and outside and leads to to thinking this has been in a cabinet most if not all of its life. There are minor scratches on the polished bottom's outside edge and this is extremely minor.

The bowl is signed on the bottom with Tiffany's counter clockwise etched signature that reads, "L.C.T." for Louis Comfort Tiffany. This sits just outside the inverted polished pontil. This is the finishing sign of a quality piece of hand blown art glass. I would say this bowl was made at the turn of the century circa 1900-1920.

I have attached a few black and white photos from the early catalog pages from Tiffany Studios. You can clearly see this shape on the bottom row far right in the first and the 3rd Row 1st item on the 2nd picture. This is a very nice bowl and it is simply amazing that it has survived over 100 years in this condition. I'm sure the buyer will cherish this wonderful piece of art glass in their collection for many years.
