For sale is a nice piece of art pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a jardiniere or planter and the pattern is known as Antique Matte Green. The jardiniere is large as it measures approximately 5 1/4" tall and is 9 3/4" in diameter outside handles measurement. The opening of this planter is 6 1/4" in diameter inside measurement and 7 9/16" outside rim diameter.

The planter displays a squat form with a wide rim that is further accented with 2 applied looped handles. The jardiniere has a spectacular mottled matte green glaze that screams Arts and Crafts the whole way. It has characteristics that resemble Hampshire Pottery's cucumber green glaze and also Peters and Reed because of the red or rusty undertones in the the low profile areas. The jardiniere has a raised circular ring in the neck of the vessel. This is a difficult glaze to find in Roseville of this size and the shape is more commonly found in the Matt Color glaze. This is known as shape number 550-6" in the Roseville catalog pages.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. It would make an excellent piece for a matte green collector or a nice addition to someone who collects Matte Color. The piece is unsigned but guaranteed to be vintage Roseville Pottery.

The jardiniere was made circa 1910-1914.
