Roseville

Sold

For sale is a lovely piece of art pottery made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Bushberry" and it is done in their most popular blue background glaze. This pattern and color is one of Roseville's most desirable to collect. This shape is a large 2 compartment cornucopia vase. It stands an impressive 6 3/8" tall and is 9" wide and 5" deep.

This vase displays a pattern of very detailed embossed Maple shaped leaves and clusters of bush berries dangling or growing from a stem out of the leaves along the middle of the vase. This vase has a very realistic handle in the form of a branch which is joined at the waist of the large horn. The background of the vase resembles that of tree bark with a horizontal grain thus giving this vase that life like appearance. The background glaze is a country slate blue with wonderful deep sage greens applied to the embossed leaves rolling down the side of the vase with brown/rust colored bush-berries dangling.

This vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The vase is signed on the bottom with the raised "Roseville U.S.A." and the mold number 188-8" which is also in raised relief. There is also the letter "x" written in a grease pencil and an incised number 10. This was more than likely was the finishers initial and number mark. This vase is quite clean and well taken care of. The mold is crisp and detail is outstanding. This vase was made, circa 1941.
