For sale is a wonderful piece of art pottery made by the Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The item is a footed classic large urn style vase with applied handles. The vase is an impressive size and stands 9" tall and is approximately 8 7/8"wide. The foot has a diameter of 3 1/2" and the vessel opening is 3 3/8" inside rim measurement.
The vase is done in a rose famille glaze that graduates from a moss green at the top portion of the piece to a beautiful rose lavender at the foot. The upper portion of the vase has some nice clusters of blue crystalline to show off the fabulous colors. There is even some frothiness to the piece in certain areas. Fulper Pottery was all about the glaze and simplistic forms and this piece is sure to not disappoint even the most discerning collectors. It has a nice presence to it as it is sizeable and an eye stopper!
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The vase is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's raised racetrack ink stamp signature mark. This would date this vase to have been made Circa 1916-1922 and is known as Fulper's middle period. The vase is known as shape number 586 in the Fulper catalog pages. This vase has some weight and is quite large and considered substantial.
This is a wonderful example of this form and glaze from Fulper. I'm sure the buyer will not be disappointed with their purchase. It would look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts style bookcase.
