For sale is a wonderful piece of art pottery made by the Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The item is a beautiful vase with similar lines to a ginger jar with applied handles. The vase is an impressive size and stands 8 3/16" tall and is approximately 8" wide. The foot has a diameter of 5" and the vessel opening is 2 3/8" inside rim measurement.
The vase is done in a seafoam green flambe' over a background of pea green that graduates towards a deep moss green on the bottom portion of the piece. There is an elongated cylindrical neck on the vase that has two wide high-arched handles to finish the form of this wonderful piece. It has a strong oriental influence.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The vase is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's raised racetrack ink stamp signature mark. This would date this vase to have been made Circa 1916-1922 and is known as Fulper's middle period. The vase is known as shape number 573 in the Fulper catalog pages. This vase has some weight and is quite large and considered substantial.
This is a wonderful example of this form and glaze from Fulper. I'm sure the buyer will not be disappointed with their purchase. It would look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts style bookcase.
