For sale is a wonderful piece of art pottery made by the Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The item is an arts & crafts footed fan flower vase. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 8 3/16" tall and is approximately 5 1/2" wide. The foot has a diameter of 3 5/8".
The vase is done in one of Fulper Pottery's most popular glazes known as Chinese Blue Flambe with crystalline. The vase is a classic fan shape that sits on a round foot. The vase has a glossy 2 tone Chinese blue glaze with a green mahogany brown top lip (flambe). You can see this flambe' drip running down the top lip of this beautiful piece. The blue glaze on the exterior side is accented with plentiful snowflake crystals on 1 side and few on the other. There are scattered crystals throughout.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The vase is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's racetrack ink stamp signature mark. This would date this vase to have been made Circa 1922-1928. It is known as shape number 707 in the Fulper Catalog Pages and was simply called a "Trumpet Fan Vase" according to the book on Fulper by Hibel-Defalco-Rago.
This is a wonderful example of this form and glaze from Fulper. I'm sure the buyer will not be disappointed with their purchase. This would look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts style bookcase.
