For sale is a wonderful arts and crafts hammered metal bowl or dish made by The Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Mass. The bowl measures 6" in diameter and is 1" tall. Typically this size if it were carnival glass would have been considered a small plate.
The dish has a wonderful hand hammered texture on silver plated metal with a ruffled or scalloped edge. This dish is shallow and has a small well to hold items such as candy. The subject matter is wonderful as you can see a detailed fish jumping of the water trying to catch a fly buzzing by. This is a great gift that that fisherman in the family. It also works for any camp or lodge as a candy dish or in an arts and crafts style home.
This bowl is considered to be in very good condition to excellent condition as there are no cracks or dings to the metal. The vase does show signs of normal age use as the silver plate has tarnished somewhat and has some scratches. The tarnishing actually looks good on this piece and acts as a natural patina and it is not overpowering.The bowl is signed on the underside bottom and it reads, "PAIRPOINT MFG CO. QUADRUPLE PLATE 1414". There is also their "P" inside of a diamond logo that sits between these marks.
This dish or bowl was made circa 1920-1930.
