For sale is a lovely piece of pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a vase and the pattern is known as "Tourmaline". The vase measures 5 1/8" tall and is approximately 6 1/4" in diameter. The inside opening of the vase measures 3 7/16" wide.
The vase is a spherical form with 5 concentric horizontal rings from the middle to the top with a slight flare to the rim. The vase depicts a semi gloss blue with a hint of bronze to yellow metallic glaze at the lip. This very pleasing glaze was created by Roseville to simulate the semi-precious stone "Tourmaline". The glaze is done is a soft blue with a caramel to brown mustard color accenting the rim. The interior is just as splendid as you can see all kinds of mottling going on.
The vase is considered to be in excellent to mint condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. This Vase is so clean I don't believe it was ever used for anything more than to simply enjoy its beauty. The piece is unsigned but guaranteed to be vintage Roseville. This particular line was usually unsigned as it originally had a silver foil label. The shape number is known as 238-5".
This vase was made circa 1933.
