For sale is a lovely piece of art pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Cornish" and the form is a Bud vase. The vase measures 8 1/2" tall and is approximately 4" in diameter at the widest point. The rim measures approximately 1 3/4" wide.
The vase depicts a mottled caramel or Terra-Cotta colored background glaze. Weller considered this their brown glaze in this line. There are embossed leaves with a stem that has berries hanging from it. The Leaves overlay three rings that surround the vase and there are mock scroll handles applied on each side. The back of the vase is plain except for the mottled glaze. The leaves have an olive green hue to them and two of the berries are glazed in a dark blue. The other four are glazed in a medium green as if they have not ripened as of yet.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The vase is signed on the bottom with the incised script "Weller Pottery" as well as the letter "F" in Black. This was more than likely the artist or the finisher's mark. This vase will work well in any arts and crafts or mission style setting as well as any country decor.
This vase was made Circa 1933.
