For Sale is a lovely piece of Art Pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Roba" and the form is a Tri-Corner Footed Planter. The Planter has 3 sides and each measures approximately 7 1/2" wide outside mold measurement and is approximately 3 5/8" tall. The inside measures approximately 6 1/4" wide inside measurement. The Vase depicts Desert Flowers on a branch with leaves. The flowers are glazed in cream and the flower centers and flower tips are accented with a brown glaze to give added dimension. The leaves are a soft olive to moss green. This floral motif is set on a terracotta background that blends into a darker earthly green brown glaze. This glaze is similar to the Woodcraft coloring and has a realistic branch appearance. There are three molded feet on each corner along with a scalloped or irregular slightly flared top rim.
The Vase is in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with the Weller incised Script Signature. This can only be seen when held at an angle because the glaze on the bottom has obscured it. There is also the letter "H" hand painted on the bottom which is more than like the Artist cipher mark.
This form is not found all that often with these style of Flowers and branch along the bottom and is considered to be somewhat Rare!! This Vase was made during Weller's Late Period, Circa 1935-1948.
